A URL shortener creates a compact link for sharing in posts, slides, and print where long query strings look messy. Short links are convenient—not a security guarantee about the destination. Only shorten URLs you trust. Recipients should still know where they are going when it matters.
They last while the service retains them. Keep the original URL documented.
If the UI offers custom aliases, use clear non-misleading names.
Operators and anyone with the link may access the destination. Do not encode secrets in URLs.
